Jan 9: Remembering martyrs.
On this day in 1349, the Jewish population in Basel, Switzerland was burned, despite the protests of Pope Clement VI who urged priests to protect the Jews, because the residents of Basel blamed them for causing the Bubonic Plague. Lord Have Mercy!
I am a brother in the Order of St. Anthony the Great, OCP, and an affirming catholic priest in the episcopal church, currently serving as the priest in charge of a small church in Maryland.
